Birdbox survey PART 2

A view inside one of the birdboxes holding 8 Blue Tit chicks.

We carried out another birdbox survey today, following on from the one carried out earlier this month. To see the previous survey post CLICK HERE.

A quick update. All 21 boxes which were previously occupied are still in use, with a mixture of Blue Tit, Great Tit and Coal Tit nests. In the last survey we counted a total of 94 eggs (not counting those hiding under birds). With most of the eggs now having hatched, today we were counting the chicks instead, with a grand total of 130 chicks found in the 21 birdboxes!

Great news again. Hopefully the chicks will fledge and leave their nests soon, and maybe some of the adult birds will lay more eggs!
