The National Trust’s ’50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ is a national campaign which aims to promote ‘the great outdoors’ to members, visitors and the population at large and encourage participation in a diverse range of outdoor activities from climbing trees and hunting bugs, to canoeing and abseiling. You can find the complete 50 things to do list by visiting our 50 things website.
Our Ranger team have been giving some of the 50 things a go on our properties (you can see us giving them a go at Roseberry Topping for example, by clicking HERE).
Yesterday, to further promote the campaign, our team of staff and volunteers as well as over 700 other members of staff, volunteers, community groups and school children were taking part in some of the 50 things at National Trust places across Yorkshire and the North East.
For us it was an early start! We arrived at Saltburn-by-the-sea at 6.30am and thankfully the sun was shining and it was a beautiful morning to be on the beach…
We arrived early to get prepared to tick off no. 16 on the 50 things list – bury someone in the sand (with a twist).
Here we are preparing…
And a group photo of some of our staff and volunteers before our MASS BURIAL in the sand…
So, no. 16 of our 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ – bury someone in the sand. In this case more than one person, and in a giant 50!
Also, why not come along to our WILD WEDNESDAY summer holiday activities and get going. Learn how to survive in the wild, have a go at a treasure hunt, get closer to nature and most of all – have some fun in the great outdoors!
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start ticking the 50 things off!
